My 2005 Chevy Impala SS needs help.?
My Impala has the low traction feature and lately it has been engaging at inappropriate times (not icy or wet, etc). There was a message the light that stated SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM. So I took it into the shop and they said it could be a sensor in the ABS or they were not sure. I made an appointment, took it in and of course it would not do what it was doing prior to taking it in for repair. As soon as I left the car started doing it again. The low traction kicks in all the time when I am braking. Could this be something with my tires needing replaced? Brakes? And if it is something in the traction system, is this an expensive fix? I use my car for my work and so it is important to have it working properly as soon as possible but not sure what needs fixed.
I would not leave diagnosing this condition to a local shop. If you haven’t done so already I would bring it in to the dealer …they will have the specialized diagnostic equiment to troubleshoot the system. There may also be some Technical Service Bulletins the dealership has access to in making repairs or factory authorized modifications to the system ….and there just may be a recall on it.
